Founded in 1987 by architect/engineer/designer Enrico Bressan and artist Tahmineh Javanbakht Artecnica began life designing homes in California, clothing and cosmetic stores and light sculptures for museums and galleries. In 1993 a homewares division was added. At the same time the DESIGN WITH CONSCIENCE project began in which Artecnica manufactures products with humanitarian and environmentally friendly principles at the forefront. TranSglass from Guatemala is one such project. Whilst design work was initially carried out by Artecnica's founders the company has recently begun inviting well known international designers to contribute new ideas to the collection.
