Launched by Artemide in 1987, the Tolomeo lamp is an icon of Italian design.
The product of collaboration between designers Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina, the Tolomeo is universally admired for its blending of exceptional functionality with a clean, simplistic visual aesthetic.
The lamp’s aluminium frame gives it an exceptional lightness and sturdiness, as well as a refined, modern look.
The lamp head, adjustable in all directions, is equipped with a stamped aluminum reflector that ensures uniform light distribution.
Tolomeo’s articulated arm system allows the lamp to be easily adjusted in height and tilt, thanks to an innovative spring mechanism. This guarantees flexibility of use, either as a desk lamp to illuminate the work surface or as a reading/table lamp.
The Tolomeo was awarded the Compasso D’Oro in 1987, plus a swathe of other awards, and remains the world’s best-selling lamp.
