There is little in the world that can be designed that Philippe Starck hasn’t tried his hand at. Born in France in 1949 Starck founded his first design firm in 1968 however it was after designing the interior of the private apartments of then French President Francois Mitterand in 1982 that his career really took off. Starck has more recently designed a collection of household objects for Target in the US, the motivation being his philosophy of ‘democratization of design’, that is, that good design should be accessible to everyone.
