On completion of his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Ceramic Design in 1987 Gregory Bonasera's final year folio consisted of furniture, lighting and functional objects made from cast ceramics, cast glass and metalwork. On the strength of this he commenced what was to become a ten year journey as a furniture and lighting designer and maker specializing primarily in metalwork and cast resins. Working on a consistent stream of private and commercial commissions the material didnÂ't matter to him as long as the project was creative and challenging. He worked mostly in Australia but also in the UK and while based there for three years in the early 1990Â's he exhibited there and in Paris and Germany and undertook several commercial & private commissions to create furniture, lighting and chandeliers in London and Paris. He also produced work for Paramount Pictures Los Angeles.

Returning to Australia in the mid 1990Â's Bonasera continued to work on private and commercial metalwork commissions. Over time he turned his creative attention to stainless steel. Specifically he designed and produced what became a well recognised range of stainless steel functional objects which were made to order, exhibited, and sold around Australia. This work led to the process of laser cutting and Computer Aided Design (CAD). Seduced by CAD Bonasera found himself yearning to apply this new found process to a more organic medium. His training in and love for mould produced ceramics suggested the next step in his career. He ceased production of all stainless steel works at the beginning of 2005 to focus his attention on innovative porcelain objects produced through a unique marriage of state of the art computer aided design and manufacturing techniques and the traditional 270 year old craft based manufacturing technique of slip casting.
