Rosendahl Watch 5 - Red
DESIGNER: Flemming Bo Hansen
Rosendahl have the following to say about Watch V
Despite the fact that every detail is pared to the bone in order to achieve absolutely the simplest way of displaying the time, Flemming Bo Hansen has ventured even further in developing an already perfect watch, with WATCH V.
WATCH V, too, is based on the Golden Ratio. This means, briefly, that the sides of the case are equally distributed with a constant addition of 1.618, which serves to illustrate more than anything else the original uncompromising concept behind the classic, clean-cut design lines of the WATCH collection. In other words, there is an overtly natural explanation for every detail of WATCH.
The difference between WATCH V and the original design from the 1980s is that the actual case is turned 90 degrees to give greater width than height when the watch is worn on the wrist. In addition, WATCH V has taken on a distinctly masculine style in the form of “broad, ellipsoid shoulders” with polished surfaces which contrast beautifully with the matt finish of the case and the matt black rubber strap.
Many of the previous watches in Flemming Bo Hansen's WATCH collection only displayed the time on a large LCD display, and of course WATCH V does this, too. However, as a brand-new feature, WATCH V also offers stopwatch, countdown and alarm functions. Unsurprisingly, these functions are designed with true Flemming Bo Hansen minimalism, which in this case means all the functions are controlled by two buttons, A and B. Button A scrolls through the functions, and button B sets, activates, stops and resets.
Despite its many functions, WATCH V is nevertheless extremely simple to use – thus justifying its place in Flemming Bo Hansen's purist universe of time.
When you consider its shape and try out its functions, on the face of it WATCH V is a brand-new watch from the stable of Flemming Bo Hansen. But the stringent design and clean-cut lines have been maintained to the nth degree. Thus, Flemming Bo Hansen has proved that he originally created classic perfection and that WATCH V is just another natural step forward in this purist's evolution of time.
We say it's cool…
N.B.: They call this one red but it looks mighty orange to us in real life.
